60s-70s Vintage Special Forces 1st Pattern Jungle Jacket - Large
This jacket was very likely worn during the late Vietnam War period. Merrowed-edge patches were introduced around 1968, and given the rank of the original owner, it is probable he obtained this jacket early in his Vietnam service and continued to wear it throughout, updating the insignia as newer styles became available. While uncommon, it was not unusual for senior NCOs and officers to retain and wear their 1st pattern jackets as a mark of prestige, even after later models were issued.
